The Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation has been on everyone’s lips for a while now. I have seen countless reviews on blogs & YouTube channels raving about it. When I came across the Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation in Boots on Oxford Street, London; I knew I had to have it. I will be honest, I purchased it without even testing the colour. There were no testers available & I took a lucky, but also informed guess. I am a medium neutral skintone, so I often purchase foundation shades that have the word BEIGE in them. My niece once described me as ‘peach’ at a party, I think she meant ‘beige’ lol. The shade I was drawn to is 220 Natural Beige, & it is the perfect match for me. The foundation has finally launched in South Africa, & I couldn’t be more thrilled for you all to try it. Here’s why:

What Maybelline says…

Maybelline describes the  Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation as a mattifying liquid formula ideal for normal to oily skin. The exclusive matte foundation formula features micro-powders to control shine and blur pores. Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation is also described as a pore minimizing foundation, that gives the skin a natural, seamless finish.

What I think…

Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation is a medium coverage foundation that can be built up to full coverage. I find the texture of this formula to be creamy & velvet-like. The liquid formula a bit thin, but when applied a little does go a long way. In South Africa & the UK, it is available in a plastic tube, & in America it is available in a glass bottle. The glass bottle does not have a pump, so I am quite glad we have it in a tube. A tube is much better than a bottle because you can control the amount of product you want, without spilling it everywhere.

The R99.95 price point of the Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation has got to be one of the most attractive things about it. The tube size is 30ml, which is a fair amount of product, & a great size for your travel make-up bag, as I mentioned in my post here. In comparison to the Revlon Colorstay Foundation 30ml which retails for R325.00, you are getting the same amount of product for a 1/3 of the price.

The formula gives the skin a lovely matte finish without making you look dry. In terms of wearability, I find it to wear well throughout the day. This has been the foundation I go to for an all day affair, or a night out. I wear this foundation for hours upon hours without needing to touch up or powder my face. For the ladies who may be oiler, you may want to powder the areas of concern.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation is available in 40 shades internationally, with 14 shades being available in South Africa. I wish we had more shades available here, however I am glad that most of the shades are medium – dark shades instead of light – medium shades being the majority. There was a discussion on Twitter about Maybelline South Africa launching the Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation in South Africa. In a nutshell, it was suggested that Maybelline SA launched the  Fit Me foundation because Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty with 40 shades. For the record, Maybelline Fit Me comes in 40 shades. And in order to have launched the foundation range this October in South Africa, it would have been in the works for many months. I am a Rihanna fan, but I am a realist too.

Overall, my opinion of the Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation is that it is great. For a R99.95 price point, you are getting a foundation that is a better formula than some high-end foundations. I have enjoyed using it on my skin, & have been impressed with how well it wears.
