I find that as I am getting older, my pores are becoming more visible – and I hate it. I have heard that this is a somewhat common problem for women, so at least I know I am not alone in the struggle.  Today’s post is for those, who like me are struggling with HUGE pores. Let’s say Goodbye PORES with my Benefit the POREfessional review.

I have been using the Benefit the POREfessional Primer for about 2 years now. I would place it in my Top 5 Primers. Not only is it great for disguising my pores; but it’s super lightweight so it feels as though you aren’t wearing anything at all, which I love. I must make it clear that the POREfessional product range will not prevent pores or permanently reduce the appearance of them; however it will aid in making them appear smaller at the time of using the product(s).

I have stated my thoughts on each of the individual products below, however I love to use all in conjunction with each other.

Benefit the POREfessional Primer

As mentioned above, this is a favourite of mine. It is lightweight & feels silky smooth on my skin. the POREfessional primer is a pro-balm with an oil-free formula that compliments both oily & dry skin types. The consistency is silicone-like & while it looks beige, it applies translucent. I dab this product into my skin as opposed to rubbing. I find that it does also even out my complexion & reduce redness around my nose.

Benefit the POREfessional Matte Rescue

According to Benefit, this mattifying gel will blur pores; give an invisible finish; & mattify your face by absorbing oil. The gel is blue in colour, but does not apply blue to your face. I use this product over my moisturiser & under my POREfessional primer before applying my foundation. I do not recommend using this product as a primer. Even though it does mattify your face instantly, I find that without a primer between matte rescue gel & your foundation, it simply does not sit well on the skin. My skin is normal, so I find that it lasts at least 6 hours on my face. However, if you have oily skin it may be different for you.

Benefit the POREfessional Instant Wipeout Masks

This sheet mask promises to clean out your pores on nose & the apples of your cheeks by removing impurities, & also to tighten the pores so they appear smaller. Great right? I think so. And the packaging is super cute as all Benefit packaging is. The Instant Wipeout Masks come in a pack of 8, which works out to about R55 per mask.  I was a little confused about how to use this at first, but quickly figured it out. The turquoise button on each pack contains a liquid. When you press on that button, it spreads the liquid to the sheet mask, so when you open the packet the sheet has the liquid on it. I use the sheet mask on my nose & apples of my cheeks.

I think this product works fairly well. It really does tighten up the pores after using it. I like to use this the day before (most likely in the evening before bed) I have a photoshoot or event to attend. I have read online that it stung when some people used it. But honestly, keeping it on for 10 minutes was a breeze for me. If anything, I didn’t like the menthol smell of the product, but I generally don’t like products with scents so that may just be me.

For me, this trio works well. As mentioned, I used the POREfessional primer for 2 years before trying out the matte rescue or the instant wipeout masks. And I find that using these products with each other works quite nicely. However, as always what works for me may not work for you, & these products are not cheap. While I was inserting links to the Red Square online store, I did find that these 3 products are actually available in a mini trio pack. If you aren’t sure about purchasing all 3 of these (over R1200 for all 3), but you do want to try them out; I suggest you check out the POREfessional Pores Away Kit. It retails for R285 which is much cheaper that over R1200.
