Before I even get into the review, I have to tell you that I absolutely LOVE the Essence Soft Touch Mousse Foundation! This foundation has been a favourite since July. The week before The July I tested out a few foundations in order to decide which one I would wear to on the day. You see the thing about The July is that you need make-up, especially foundation that will last all day long.
APPLICATION:
I applied the foundation to my face around 10.30am. You can see from the picture above that I use quite a bit of concealer on days when I need to look ‘flawless’. Here I used the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer which I adore. I am actually running low on this concealer & need a new one asap.
Before applying this foundation to my face I actually mix up 2 colours to get my perfect shade. I take 2 parts 02 Matte Beige + 1 part 50 Matte Caramel & vôilà it’s the perfect colour. I use a flat top kabuki brush to apply the foundation to my face. I purchased this brush in a set from BH Cosmetics & it was so cheap. You can find it here. After spreading the foundation allover my face with the brush, I use a Real Techniques sponge (damp) to ‘beat’ my face & essentially blend the foundation into my skin. I should also mention that I almost never use a base/primer under it. I just don’t think it’s necessary.
COVERAGE:
I find that this foundation is medium to full coverage. For me, medium coverage is good enough, but if you want to build it up, you have that option. Even though the foundation is medium coverage, it covered up my uneven skin tone & my blemishes too (I don’t have too many) without any hassle. I wore the foundation throughout the day & took lots of pictures during The July.

There are no filters used on these images & they were taken at different points in the day. The images were taken in natural light, & the foundation really comes off quite beautifully on camera.
DURABILITY:
I wore the Essence Soft Touch Mousse Foundation from 10.30am until around 11pm, which is just over 12 hours. At the end of the night, I was laying in bed taking selfies because I looked so great. I was really impressed. The sun was shining throughout the day, & I didn’t even need to touch my face up. Over the past few months, I have noticed that the area around my nose tends to need some touching up. This is not needed when I am using this foundation, which I love of course.
Here is the picture I took at the end of the night:
My face has a bit of a ‘glow’ not shine, but it does still look absolutely amazing. The foundation was matte all day, & the ‘glow’ only came towards the end of the night. For me, this was perfectly fine.

PRICE:
This foundation retails for R69.99 which is absolutely cheap for the quality of product you are getting. You can purchase this product at Clicks & even online via Spree.
Overall thoughts on this foundation is that I love it & would recommend it to anyone. I have already tried it on my sister’s face, & she was very keen to buy it after that.
Great review Brett. Your application is flawless. Do you think this will work with oily skin? Do you use a powder afterwards as well or just this?
Hi Lalannie
I think this will definitely work with oily skin.
It is a matte foundation so the oil won’t come through.
I do suggest you use a primer base below.

Girl! I’ve been searching high and low for a flat top kabuki brush, thanks so much for that link! The foundation sounds good too, I think that’s a good price to try it out 🙂
Great post xx
