I’m back after a what has felt like the longest month! I have been crazy busy at work (my 9-5 as a merchandiser) & my brand / online shop are keeping me pretty busy with our summer fast approaching. Oh, & let’s not forget the trend trip to London & Milan for next winter merchandise. I am no where near not being busy, but I am back into a more regular routine which makes me feel a little more settled.
Today I’m sharing a look post I shot with Prince (@princeedgie) over a month ago. Yeah I know – I’m a slacker!!! I have been loving dresses of late; & I am especially enjoying styling them in ways I wouldn’t have done before. My style evolution has been amazing right? Who’s been here since day 1? Sometimes I look back & cringe at old photographs. But at least I have seen some progress. This outfit is a perfect example of how I have grown so much in terms of my style. I have paired the white shirt dress with a pair of skinny blue jeans. It’s simple but chic & sexy in an understated way. And Brett a few years ago who have never worn this white dress with jeans! Let’s be honest here.
I picked up this dress at Zara when I was in LA in April. A great find – even though it’s sheer as hell. I have worn it with a pair of nude Spanx but I prefer to layer it with an actual clothing item so I feel more covered up. Personal preference I guess. But I do still think it’s a great find because of the fabric which is lightweight (perfect for summer) & textured. And the tortoise shell buttons just add that extra bit of detail. The buttons are also super on trend. They have actually been trending for 2 seasons now. And while I was in London & Milan, I saw that they are still very visible in the early winter stories we found in store.
Back to layering. I think I have layered this dress in the simplest way possible. You could add more layers like a denim jacket, or even a sheer polo neck underneath the dress. You could also pair the white dress with a printed midi skirt or leggings. It really all depends on how far you want to take it. To be very honest, layering is something that I seldom feel comfortable doing. Why? I’m not too sure. Maybe it’s that I find it a little intimidating. Or that I picture people like Maria Alia who achieve the layered look so effortlessly. That being said, I can definitely see myself attempting the layered look more. A dress paired with denims is a great way to dip your toes into the layering style pool. So, if you’re like me & want to experiment – that would be a great place to start.

Here are some white dresses I think are great for layering: H&M, PrettyLittleThing, MRP & Cotton On
Stunning!!
Thank you x
White… A royal color indeed. It suits you so well. You are looking great in that white layered dress with cool white heels!
I’m actually interested in your merchandiser job. I’m currently studying BCom Accounting but I don’t see myself going through with the CA path. Would someone like me be able to become a merchandiser and what challenges would I face?
I think it you get into the right company you could work your way up. But I don’t think it would be easy to just get into the job with no prior experience. I worked in a company from being a Junior Designer & then worked my way to being a merchandiser because my superiors saw that I had a talent for product development & sales.
White top with light blue denim is one of the best combinations out there. It suits to wear for any occasions. This summer I bought a new white buttoned top from Dubai. The shopping malls here were stocked with irresistible summer fashion collections.
