I have been using the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer since February when I shot the below video with Maybelline South Africa. I feel like the South African consumer has been begging for these cult products to hit our shores, & brands like Maybelline are listening. The FIT ME product range is one that has been raved about by just about every international blogger & blogger I follow. I published a review on the Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation last year & it is still one of my favourite foundations to wear. If you want to find out more about it, read the review here. Today, I am going to share my thoughts on the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, which in my opinion pairs perfectly with the Fit Me foundation.
The Maybelline Fit Me Concealer comes in 12 shades ranging from light to dark. The concealer is oil-free, & highly pigmented. The concealer feels very light & looks natural on the skin, even with foundation under it. In terms of coverage, I would classify this as a medium coverage concealer. When I look at the 12 shades collectively, I am of the opinion that various undertones are accommodated. There are yellow, neutral, pink & cool undertones amount the 12 shades. Although I must point out that because there are only 12 shades across Light, Medium & Dark shade ranges you’re not going to find that, for example there are more that 2 or 3 undertones in let’s say the Light shades 5, 10, 15 & 20. I hope I have explained that ok. That being said, I still think that you will be able to find the perfect shade for you. I can personally use shades #20 Sand & #25 Medium on my medium olive tan skin tone. For reference, I am shade #220 in Maybelline Fit Me Foundation; C3 in MAC Face & Body; and NC30 in MAC Studio Fix Fluid.
The packaging is plastic with a sleek design. Personally, I like plastic products, because travelling with them is easier as you don’t have to worry about breakages. Each tube of the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer contains 6.8ml of product & retails for R109.95. The applicator is perfection. Dipping the wand into tube once is enough for both under eyes.
My personal experience with the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer has been good. I have used it in a few ways. Most commonly, I use the concealer with foundation. I apply my skincare, primer, foundation, & then I apply concealer. I do set my concealer with setting powder as a common practice; & I am still able to achieve a natural look on the under eye area. While the product blends well into the skin, if you are having issues with flakey skin, then you might want to use some MAC FIX+ on your blender to help it melt into your skin. I do sometimes like to cover up select areas on my face without wearing foundation. For this purpose, I spot conceal using Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. I don’t spot conceal over blemishes as a rule, as I prefer to have my blemishes breathe. However, I do spot concealer on areas where there are dark spots, scars & redness. My nose is always red at the nostrils. Concealing this area is vital in my “no make-up make-up look”. I do still take a little powder foundation to set the area after.
