KKW BEAUTY launched the 2nd product in the range, the KKW BEAUTY Powder Contour & Highlight Kit. Of course, my make-up addict self, purchased it on the day it was released. I am very much a powder contour & highlight girl, so this launch was just what I was waiting to see from KKW BEAUTY. While I have a good many products similar or even just like this one, I still wanted to try it out. The $52 price point is not cheap. This product cost a total R1372.44 including shipping to South Africa. If was not for review purposes, I doubt I would have purchased it. NYX Professional Makeup has the PRO Contour & Highlight Palette that retails for R394.95 which is a fraction of the cost. If you haven’t seen my review on it – see here. Back to KKW BEAUTY… I tried this palette out over a few days. I wore it with a foundation that was more dewy, & also with a foundation that was matte. I feel it performed the same on both occasions.

What KKW BEAUTY says… Contour, shade, sculpt and highlight with the KKW Beauty Powder Contour & Highlight Kit. The soft, buildable powder formula makes application easy and blends effortlessly for a seamless look. The pressed powder quad features two matte contour shades, ideal for sculpting hollows of cheeks, hairline, nose and jawline, and two shimmer highlight shades for brightening and adding glow to cheekbones, cupid’s bow, nose, corners of the eyes, collar bones and any areas you want to add radiant shimmer. Layer the two shimmer highlight shades for a more intense glow. Use the angled brush to apply and blend the contour shades, and the rounded brush to apply the highlighter shades.

What do I think? I love the packaging of this product, but then I loved the cream contour/highlight packaging too, so what did you expect? There was an awful ‘glue’ smell coming from the palette, which was quite unpleasant. I was not happy about that. Who wants their make-up all smelly?!

The contour shade was a bit light for my medium skin tone. I like to see my contour show up on my skin, & it was a bit of a let down. The other ‘contour’ shade is a bronzer in my opinion. It is much to warm to use for contouring. The 2 shades blended very well, & I even used the warmer shade on my eyes. I should mention the amount of kick up in the pan was quite significant. I am not one to fuss about fallout or kick up when I dip my brush, but there was a lot. The highlight shades performed much better. I quite liked the yellow shade. The pink shade comes up almost white on my skin so I was not very fond of it.

The brush is significantly better than the 1st brush we saw from KKW BEAUTY. Although, the highlight side was not suitable for highlight in my opinion. I much prefer a more tapered brush or even a fan brush for highlighting. But we could put it down to preference. Overall, I don’t think this product is worth the hefty price tag. I would not re-purchase, nor would I recommend it. While I will keep using it, & didn’t find it bad, it definitely is not worth the price & effort of getting it to SA.

What do you think? Would you purchase it yourself?
