I feel quite bad because this Maybelline Superstay 24H Ultimate Reds Review post was meant to go LIVE last week – but obviously it didn’t. As usual, I find myself being an ever so busy bee, but luckily since my last post (Winter to Spring Transitional Dressing) there’s a lot that has changed. Firstly, I won’t be travelling at the end of August to trend. I have mixed emotions here because I had hoped to go back to NYC so that I could check out an art exhibit that I am literally DYING to see. Also, I haven’t been to New York since last year, & I really love that place. Also, a bit of a downer is that now my September trip will be a few days longer than we had initially planned.
However, on the up side, I get to stay home (for now) & focus on the things I need to focus on, like SHOP BRETT ROBSON. We haven’t uploaded new merchandise since we launched, & I am busy working with the team to get new merchandise up ASAP. It’s quite a process though. It goes from idea to pattern maker to me who is a fuss pot of note. I have started doing my fits on myself so that I can wear the garment for a day & then decide if I am happy with the fit. But after that my pattern maker stills gets a million notes on amendments & such.
Anyway, this post is NOT an update post, it’s a review so let’s get into it 🙂
I am the HUGEST red lipstick fan you will find. I dabble in other colours from time to time, but nothing beats a red lip for me. Maybelline gave us the most amazing goodie bag at their Maybelline 100 celebrations in Jhb, & these Maybelline Superstay Ultimate Reds lip stains were in there. One of my favourite red lipsticks is MAC Ruby Woo because it is so low-maintenence. You apply it once & it lasts for hours. I love that. So, when trying these out, I was very excited to see if they do last for 24H like Maybelline says, although you guys know I’m not out here wearing lipstick for 24 actual hours.
Meet the 24-hour lipcolor that stretches the limits of longwear:
• no crumbling, no fading, no transferring, no drying, no smudging
• 2-step lipcolor in one pack:
Step 1: Flex color wand
Step 2: glossy conditioning balm
• 18 long-lasting shades
What I think…
The 2 step lip colour is perfect because you apply the colour onto your lips first, & then basically seal it in with the conditioning balm. I found that I needed to reapply the conditioning balm after about 3 hours as I felt my lips were feeling a little dry, however the lip colour was still in tact & as vibrant as when I put it out. Would I consider this lip colour low-maintainence? Absolutely. Even eating didn’t mess up my lips, so that is a HUGE PLUS for the girl going on a date or lunch meeting & doesn’t want to be checking her lipstick every 5 minutes. However, do be warned that this lip colour needs to be removed with make-up remover, & a slight colour stain will most likely be left on your lips after removing. Overall I would 100% recommend this product to you. It really is great quality, & affordable too.
Out of the 5 shades I tried, I would definitely say that 560 RED Alert was my favourite.
